Happy Father's Day!

Dad

I am so thankful to have you in my life
You showed me persistence, you taught me to strive.

There were so many times you could have given up
It wasn’t always easy, but you stayed because of love.

You told me “hang in there, things will get better”
Those words remain in my heart, even twenty years later.

A man of few words, describes you so well
The things you have spoken are engraved in my soul.

Childhood was difficult, it was painful, you know
With so much responsibility, too fast I had to grow.

I missed out on so much life, but now I can see
It kept me out of trouble and taught me to be.

Diligent in your work, to provide for us all
Didn’t complain or grumble, but always stood tall.

Your perseverance and strength does not go unseen
I misjudged those qualities as you being mean.

You only did your best, did what you could
Now I am older, I see it was good.

You are truly an inspiration, to our family
Revered and well-regarded, especially to me.

It’s funny how things turn out, I never thought I would have
Felt so much respect and honor to call you “my dad.”

I love you Dad,
